Over the past few months I have been heavily inspired by juxtaposing
creamy pastels with a dark, grungy aesthetic. I think opposition in most things
creative provokes more interest and translates into something thoughtful and
Landscapes and pastels found in the beauty of foliage,
sunsets and bodies of water
have also been inspiring. Now that the leaves have
fallen and everything is starting to appear barren and desolate, I have found a
nice balance between the innocent pastels and furs in my wardrobe with my moodier
leather and darker makeup.
These are all photos I have found on Tumblr and added to a
mood board for inspiration.
Much of my Sunday was spent interviewing, photographing and
clothing in a new way. It is funny how we forget that what we
perceive is different for everyone, and it is refreshing to get a new point of
view. It is also funny how discussing something such as clothing can still be a
reminder of how desperately human we are.
For these photos I walked around downtown
Salt Lake. I titled this
post “some kind of ghost,” because although we are in a
big city, the streets are like a ghost town on a Sunday night. This is
reminiscent of the culture but also goes to show how small a city can be, even
with a big-city feel.
I love all the elements in this wish list. The patterns,
colors and textures are all things I would incorporate into an outfit. Although
black is my go-to color for colder weather, I love throwing in visually
interesting elements like a colored boot or fur.
The past couple weeks I have been working on a new project
for the magazine. It is something I am very thrilled about and have been
focusing a lot of energy on. I can’t disclose what the opportunity is quite
yet, but I will give news as soon as I can! Lately it feels like more and more
things are falling into place and it feels good to see the results of my deeds. It also feels good to constantly be working on something creative in the field I love.
